Has anyone tried welding the bed to the cab? 1972.

I was thinking of turning 72 a long bed in to a short bed. Then I thought if I was cutting and welding, it might look cool to chop the front off of the bed and butt it up to the cab. Just smooth it out it all up and make it look like a blazer. If I get it, I'm going to bag it all around so I was thinking I may need to stiffin the frame some while I'm at it.
Any ideas???
