shocks 101

ok heres the deal my buddy put 5in drop coils in the rear of his 62 he had these huge rv shocks that bottommed out with the lower coils bouncy as heck, so he orders up 3in drop shocks and now the drop shocks are topped out still bouncy i look under his truck and see he has 4in blocks too boot! which is why i think it topped out the shocks. question is whats the simpilist and least expensive solution here he cant return anything becuz they've been mounted i was thinkin maybe go with a stock shock oh and the frickin blocks are welded in, idk why
