Dealer Air?
Hi, I have been pretty much lurking since I purchased my 71 Cheyenne Rat Rod/ hauler. Just became an empty nester so it's time to start making it nicer. Reman Q-Jet from Mountain Man Fuel Systems is on the way, just finished putting a smaller steering wheel on, and a different step bumper tomorrow.
My question is: Anybody ever restored a "dealer AC" unit? Can they easily be converted to a newer style freon, and if so which type works best with the old R12 system? I will be pulling it out this week to clean up some wiring under the dash, there was an old funky add-on cruise control and poorly done trailer brake wiring. Should I bother with any of it or just add one of the modern "hot rod air" systems when time and cash allow? Maybe someone else has already dealt with this and has advice? Lee |
