Need to pull steering column...guide?

Hey all,

I need to pull the steering column in my 72 gmc with auto trans.
One thing it's getting very difficult to shift as I'm guessing the grease has gunked up over time. Also I have some quirks in the wiring and was going to replace the or rebuilt the harness inside. Truck is all almost all original and I'm sure it's never been apart.

So any helpful tips on this work?

Thanks
