Throttle Cable - Huge PITA

I realized the other day that my throttle cable was about 85 percent frayed and about to break. So, I headed down to my local parts store and picked up a "generic" replacement. What a piece of crap! You basically have to cut it to fit, and that's all well and good, but the cable attaches to a little metal dealy on the carb by slipping into a hole and then tightening with an allen wrench to secure. Well, I couldn't get the allen wrench nut tight enough to hold the cable because the head stripped out!

So, I resorted to J.B. Weld, because I need to help my friend move tomorrow. This should have been a piece of cake. Hopefully it is as strong as I think it is.

Anyway, I am running an Edelbrock 1406 on a Performer intake. Does anybody know of a good throttle cable that will match right up???
