What should you get when you buy a NOS part

Hi All,

I recently ordered a temperature sending unit from one of the parts vendors. I paid extra to get a "NOS" sending unit since I've been having problems with the napa reproduction unit I have.

I received my order yesterday, and I received an AC Delco sending unit. The part number is still readily available from any AC Delco dealer, and the part seems to have been manufactured recently.

I was under the impression that a NOS part should no longer be manufactured in its original form, not just a part manufactured by AC Delco. I've heard that newly manufactured AC Delco parts are different and won't work accurately with the gauges in our trucks.

Anyway, I spoke to the retailer, and they said that what they sent was a NOS part just because they buy it from GM. Is that true? I'm just trying to clarify for my own knowledge.
