u-bolt size

I'm currently lowering my suburban a few inches and also installing a shock relocater kit from cpp. I cannot get the nuts off of the U-bolts to install the bottom shock mount. I've tried heat and put a pipe on my ratchet and still nothing. I think I'm going to have to cut them off.

Anyway, my question is will 1/2" U-bolts be sufficient?

The stock U-bolts are 3/4" diameter. The only U-bolts that I can buy locally are 1/2". I've checked all the auto parts stores and I can't find a suspension shop locally. I can order a set from Napa (5/8" and will still take 3 days) or I can order a set online.

Any opinions. Thanks
