71 outside door handles

Does anyone know if the holes to bolt handles on are on an angle?I have bought 2 sets and the holes are on a 45 degree angle.This does not make sense because the handles are already angled.I would think the the bolt holes would be straight because the inside of door panel is straight.If you try to put bolts on the angled handles the bolts are crooked.These handles i bought weremade in Taiwan.Any ideas-or am i missing something!
