1971 K-20 frame mounted receiver hitch question

1971 chevy longbed fleetside.

I don't like the bumper mounted ball so I have been thinking about going with one of the Curt Manufacturing units. Not set on brand but this is what shows up on internet searches.

I see 2 different options; one with a "10" step bumper". Does this mean a stepside, or my ugly non-chrome bumper? i am assuming this would require me to notch the center of the bumper? I was looking at part number 13028. If someone can suggest a low cost place to buy I'd appreciate it.

I was also thinking this would allow me to ditch the big ugly bumper and get a chrome sport bumper. Guessing this would require different brackets, correct?
