Just installed disc brakes from a 71 under my drum brake 70 and it's a wonderful feeling to see the light change and have confidence I can stop without pushing someone into the intersection. Not too much technology difference in these years but brakes are a very big deal.
A wise old body man once told me the best primer over bare metal is old paint that has stuck for 30 years. He felt better about his new paint sticking to old paint than trusting someone else's primer that might not have good prep underneath. Whenever I see a complete primer coat I suspect a bad prep job. If owner could afford to put it in a good shop and do it right it would be already covered with fresh paint so I suspect the primer was a budget job in his bro in law's driveway.
