imo a 283 is only good if you plan on making a stroker but thats me. 327 is my fav. motor but i went with a 350 on my current project with 1.94 heads. intake, edlebrock performer would do (using a victor jr. myself). like mentioned above a 500 edlebrock/carter carb would do as well. cam, one thing to consider on those is vacuum, imo it often gets overlooked when people get larger cams, they're often looking for h/l end torq and a radical lope. larger often gives less vacuum, if going power brakes it should be considered. a RV cam should do, mild lope and some torq. i use a highflow holley mech fuel pump and a highflow oil pump as well.
