327 SB 1406 Edelbrock on Performer Q Jet manifold

Just going over specifications of my 59 Apache 3100, bought from the guy who imported it from Texas. Body and engine in good condition, but unknown amount of work done.
The Edelbrock 1406 has been converted to manual choke, presumably as the electric model runs leaner.
The Edelbrock Performer Q Jet is recommended to have higher cfm (? 700 +) carb than the 600 cfm provided by the 1406.
Certainly seems to run wet, fuel smell noticeable.
I don't know if any internal work was done to the SBC 327 V8; and haven't done any dyno work.
I use the truck to go to work a few days per week, and cruising.

I am interested in any feedback on this setup.
TIA

Scott
