Moving Axles Forward

I figured the people in the 4x4 section would be more familiar with axles riding on leaf springs and what it takes to move them. From what I can gather my truck is a 67-72 body on a 73-? 4x4 frame. Looking at the truck from the side the wheels don't seem quite centered in the wheel wells of the body. The front looks like it needs to be shifted forward maybe an inch, the back a little less if any. What is involved in shifting the axle forward this much? Is there a better way to go about lining the wheels up with the body (i.e. moving the entire body) or will getting newer front springs move the axle forward? My front springs have a slight downward curve to them now and are no long flat. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
