any difference between manual and auto tranny t cases?

Hey guys,

Its actually related to my buddies' Ram Charger, but we think that he just fried his T case on the back of his standard tranny. He has a parts Ram Charger with an automatic.

Before we dive in too deep we are wondering if there is any likelihood that this is going to be a direct swap.

The "working" R Charger is an '83 i believe, and the donor is an '87.

I don't which tranny or t cases we are dealing with unfortunately.

thanks,
Spen
