but it was a cheapo chrome pan, all i know is that stock origanals dont hit

maybe a valve is not sitting right on the seat, if the header is glowing its possible it may be a bent oor warped valve
It was the cheap-o chrome pan not the stroke that was the problem (would have hit in a stock 350 too). Like I said I have the longest stroke GM ever put into a SBC and the pan off one of the shortest stroke SBC and there is no issues. If my 3.75 stroke fits inside the oil pan that was originally installed on to a 3.00 stroke engine then his 3.48 stroke rods will no way contact the oil pan for a 3.75 stroke. If this was an issue the block would get in the way long before the oil pan. This is why I use GM parts and stay away from offshore crap.
