Motor Perch

How much of my perch can I cut away before I am in trouble? On the passenger side just a bit of shaving gave me the clearance I needed for my headers. On the driver side the raised portion of the perch (stock 72, center bolt perches) hits the second tube on the header. I'm guessing I'd need to cut about an inch into the perch or around 1/3 of the perch right where the headers (try) to come through.

I'm trying to avoid buying tubular perches if at all possible.
