72 won't start
I recently bought a nice 72 with 350, automatic, points, and quadrajet. I brought it home and drove it around town for about 60 miles. I went out to start it and it wouldn't hit. It would crank as normal so no big deal. I looked at the junkyard HEI I had sitting in the garage, so I figured I would put it in. It still will not hit. Since then this is what I have done:
Cofirmed TDC with a piston stop, the rotor was pointing at #1. Drained the full tank of fuel and lines, put in fresh 92 octane Pulled the plugs, and grounded them (with the wires connected) to the frame while cranking to confirm a good blue spark on all plugs Checked timing while cranking at 10 degrees BTDC with timing light The 12 volt source runs directly to a keyed source under the dash and gets the full 12 volts all the time I am truly stumped on this. |
