67 long to short, trying to door this bish....
Hi, Matt here. long time lurker. I cant even begin to thank you guys for the incredible amount of knowledge and information crammed into this forum. you guys are awesome. I had no plans to go as far as I am with this truck. was "going" to be a nice lowered pickup......ha ha ha...
So, about 6 months ago, my baby was stolen. a 98 chevy crewcab dually. Leather, 454, "had all the fixins" so with the insurance money, we decided old school. no more smog, or restrictions to motor upgrades....I've had 3 of these trucks previously. all 68's. all longbeds. and all slammed (well, what I thought was slammed before-lol but this time was different. came across this 67 chevy longbed on craigslist, and for $1800, I drove her home. fell in love with the little mouse motor and 4 speed. was my back and fourth to work until the weather cooperated with my other baby, Isabella (Bella) but decided I couldnt wait to get started, so now driving my wifes civic while the cold air keeps me caged.... the past couple weekends consisted of parts coming in and trips for steel.... 2600lb doms and brackets with my own little Vanna White and the last weekend went like this shortened the frame 12" under the cab, 8" off the back all stiched together notches welded in wouldnt this be crazy lift? added 2x4 to the top of the frame, cutting off the bottom once I get the plasma here cut off the back part of the stock frame, decided to go new threw in some extra gussets against the front of the notch... plan is to go with a cantilever set up for the rear with a four link. already z'ed the front 3", still have to pancake the front crossmember 1.5", and hope to wrap the frame up over the next couple weekends any opinions? more pics soon. need to get my ass to work....(JOB) |
