Pull-A-Part Prices
Pulled an HEI distributor out of a K10 at my local pull-a-part today. Got to the counter and the gal rang up; distributor $29.99, distributor cap $10.99, and coil $15.99. Total $56.97. I attempted to reason that I should get the whole thing for $29.99 (not a great deal anyway since new assemblies on eBay are $38). She says, "I've worked on cars before, I know what things are, and I'm honest." I didn't want to compromise her integrity so I left it on the counter.
Still got the 4bbl Q-jet for $25. I had heard before examples of pull-a-part prices being near new but this was the first time they wanted to charge me more than new for a greasy used part I had to stand on my head and take off myself.
