Budget plasma - anyone used Ramsond, or should I keep looking?
I am new to body work, but finally recently bought a mig. Now I am trying to figure out how to squeeze some money out of my limited truck budget for a plasma so I can cut some things to weld!
I have 220 in my garage, and 40 or 50 amps is no problem. I have a (small) compressor, so not much concern there. I have read a lot of 'buy the biggest capacity you can afford'. I have never used a plasma torch before. My wife is not at all interested in me spending any money, as I just bought a welder, so I was looking hard at cheap. I have read quite a few good things about the Ramsond 50DY, for a budget-minded plasma. It has capacity for probably anything I would want to do down the road. The only negative I have seen, even for a hobby-level user, is the cheap torch on the end. My questions: 1) Does anyone here have any experience with Ramsond, and what are your thoughts? 2)If I go Ramsond, any suggestions on upgrading the torch? 3) Are there better options for a budget plasma cutter? 4) Should I forget 'budget', and just wait until I have enough saved up for something better? If better, what? 5) I come to this site because I value the opinions and experience here; tell me what you have and why you like it or hate it! I really like knowing the 'why'.
