I6 to V8 swap

Ok, here is the deal....doing a I6 to V8 swap...got the correct V8 engine stands, trying to bolt the engine in and it looks way too far forward. When bolted in, the back of the intake is 6-6 1/2" away from the firewall. You can see way too much of the trans. I have no knowledge of the clearance of the V8's in these trucks, as I have never owned one B4. It is a 69 1/2 ton. Does this sound correct? I can put the engine stands back where the I6 ones were and move the engine back about 2"'. What is correct?
