Question Anyone built a front 14b?

I have a 67 SB and have a 14b for the rear. I have been looking for a D60 for the front but they are quite pricey around here, $1000 +/-. A 14b around here can be found for $100-$300. I have heard that you can convert a 14b to a steerable front axle. I would like to know if anyone has done this and if the cost involved is worth it. Are there any drawbacks to something like this, weight, ground clearance, parts…ect. I have seen an episode of Extreme 4X4 where they did this but don't recall costs or pros/cons. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
