Alternator Wiring PROBLEM!!
Ok... this is going to be a little long winded, but is necessary for my application.
I have a 69 c-10 with a 350. It has the serpentine conversion on it off a 97 chevy z-71. The alternator is a 105 amp # DLG-1650-6-5. Internally regulated. I have the following mods to the starting circuit. 1. The original wiring was not used. A 12v power wire was ran directly from the battery through the rocker switch then out through a resistor then to the coil. Supplying 6 volts to not burn the points. 2. The starting circuit is from the batt to the starter. Then from the starter through a spring loaded switch for the starter. When engaged the starter turns the engine starting it. If the ricker switch is turned off then the power to the coil is cut off and the engine shuts off. Real simple. Kind of like NASCAR... Here is the question..... How do I wire the alternator in. The alternator uses a 4 prong plug. It has one black wire coming out of it. I believe it corresponds to the "L" on the alt. The Alt. is labeled at the plug as D-L-I-S. I am not using a light in the dash as OEM. It will be all guages. Can anyone tell me how to wire it. What wires coming out of the alternator plug go where? Heres a pic of the alt. Thanks to Auto Zone...... I read the threads on the one wire vs three wire setups and they are greek to me. Last edited by trev1; 03-03-2012 at 10:43 PM. |
