Automatic to Manual/death to rice rocket

I want to go from an automatic tranny to a manual in my 67 short step. I know i will have to fab up the cluch peddle and make a hole in the floor for the shifter. But I am sure there will many more things to change that I am not thinking of. Will i need a new/relocated crossmember, bigger trans hump in the cab, or anything else?

Also what trans would u guys go to. Im running a 350/350. I dont know if it would be possible but i think it would be kick a$$ to run somekinda 5 speed something to help me go fast.

One of the main motivations for this is my friend has 03 civic and we raced a while back when I had a 327, and he smoked me, I really want to beat that little rice rocket and i know u guys want me to as well.
