Re: Neighborhood rant...
1) Note that i love engine noises/loud engines, Yes, i even LOVE 4 cylinder "tuner" engine noises. -----MOST of the time---not early morning or late at night.
2) My opinion is that this noise is irritating to someone, thus to be a good neighbor i would try to get the noise down; i think there are devices you can put on the tailpipes to quiet things down but can take them off at other times. a) i don't know, maybe i'm getting old(er)? b) i understand that the noise may be under legal limits BUT it still does not satisfy the HOA's "requirements." So, in my opinion, if it were me, i would try to get the noise down. Yes, i have never lived "under" a HOA, so i don't know how that is like, however i have had similar neighborhood situations so i don't feel it is someone trying to get at you. i don't think they would "win" if you quieted things down----i think it's just someone irritated by the noise at that hour. (hopefully) c) RE:Flowmasters i have 2 flowmasters behind 2 cats (2 separate pipes from the engine back no crossover or x-pipe) While this is not extremely loud it is certainly not as quiet as stock. So i actually have to idle in gear in and out of the neighborhood if it's really early morning or late at night. i do this to be considerate to the neighbors. Better yet coast down the driveway and into the street thru the neighborhood as much as possible then start the engine . This is with 8.5 compression and still not quiet. d) even a car person like myself gets very annoyed at engine noise at inappropriate times---example harleys at 7am and these are the reasons for my opinions on the matter. So anyways if you believe in the cause fine. i'm not saying you are wrong, i'm just stating my opinion. |
