Re: I patiently wait....
Geoff,
I went with the earlier style mirror because I got tired of the "correct" one falling off all the time!!! Plus, it was mounted too low and gave me a blind spot I didn't like. I did the same mod on my '72 Blazer... I prefer some of the cosmetic items from the '69-'70 more than the '71-'72 (front grille, floor-hinged gas pedal, etc). I was really hoping that the reproduction mirror would have been better quality than it turned out to be. It didn't seem to ever hold the setting correctly....after a few bumps in the road it would shift out of position. Oh well, live and learn. The engine was rebuilt before I owned it, but I had to pull the heads to have a valvejob performed... you won't probably find a receipt for that one, since a machinist friend of mine did it as an "after hours" project in exchange for a steak dinner. If you see an Outback receipt in the folder, that might explain it! I can't remember doing much suspension work, unless it was to deal with worn balljoints / draglink components up front. I'm sure the truck would respond nicely to a complete refresh on all the bushings & bodymounts if you were feeling enthusiastic and motivated. This week, I'm getting ready to pick up about a dozen sheets of sheetrock at the local Home Depot and it really makes me miss that old 'Burb. It never failed....every time I rolled up to the loading area, someone would stop me to chat about it; tell me that they used to have one, or knew someone that did, etc. I always got a kick out of that part of ownership. -G
