driveshaft length

I want to go from a 2" lift to a 4" lift but my driveshaft is only in on the tcase by about 1/3 of the way so it loks like I will need to get a longer driveshaft....

can I use trig to find a the new length or jack the back of the truck up by the frame and mesure for a new length? Or do I have to wait untill I do the lift
I would like to have it ready before becasue it is my driver

it looks like the po tapered he rear blocks to index the axle to avoid lengthing the driveshaft
