Suburban overhead console in a crewcab?
I've got an overhead console out of a '90 Suburban that I was thinking of putting in my '77 Crew Cab. I removed the console an mounting bracket this weekend and test fitted it into my crew cab, but made the following observations:
1: I noticed when the console is mounted that there is a gap of about 1.5" from the top of the console to the roof panel. I know that the headliner will take up some of that, but will it take up 1.5"? Which leads into observation 2... 2: I noticed that the Suburban does not have an inner roof panel whereas the Crew Cab does. Presumably because the Crew Cab was available without a headliner, where the Suburban always had a headliner, thus negating the need for a double-walled roof. One would assume that since the console mounting bracket is mounted to the roof "bows", or supports, that the double-walled roof panel would be a moot point. I guess it comes down the following: 1. Has anyone installed said console into a Crew Cab? 2. Will the headliner take up the gap between the console and the roof? |
