73-91 Suburban differences/comments?

I've been looking around for a 4x4 454 suburban in that year range. I'm not very picky on the years or whether it's 1/2 or 3/4 ton, but I'd like to hear comments from others with different years of suburbans.

What you like, don't like, wish it had, what wasn't available or what became available.

Any usefull info might help me narrow down my search for a particular time frame, but I tend to lean towards pre 1980. Any info appreciated, thanks.
