Lets talk parking brake..or lack there of

Just tore into my 64 yesterday to rebuild wc's, hardware kits and shoes.

As Im sitting there staring at everything, something occured to me.

Somewhere over its life, a PO basicly cut all parking brake cables off, and there isnt anything left.

As I did the passenger rear, I realized the strut bar(painted red) between the shoes was MIA on this side. But it was present on drivers side.

They also removed the bracket that attached to parking cable inside drum. (Painted white in this pic below)

I found nice pics to show ya what parts I refer to.

Now,
I have no desire to replace the entire parking brake system. It has a automatic. And Ive had countless cars/trucks with non-working parking/e-brake systems.

Everything seems to function correctly while missing the ebrake cable bracket and strut bar.

So question is...
Any reason Im missing why I will have issues with rear brakes? Everything else is exactly as shown.
