Is there a PS pump cap gasket I'm missing?

Well, got my son's '69 registered and inspected and he's been tearing up the road now

But his P/S fluid leaks at the cap. Went and bought a new one, and same thing. Looked at mine ('86 w/350) and it has a gasket about mid way down.

Should there be some kind of seal on his? Thought about just getting a rubber washer and cutting it fit around the cap.

It's on a '69 with a 327.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
