HEI hook-up need help
I recently replaced my points setup with A summit HEI and wires. The truck ran much better. About A week and A half latter the truck is running very poorly. Will not idle I crank the idle up to about 1100 just to keep it running and it misses real bad and very rich. I removed the plugs and cleaned them. The plugs are gapped at .040. that was recommended to me by the auto parts store. ACDelco small plugs. Engine is out of A 75-76 chevy truck. I have 12v at my swichable ignition power with the ignition on to the coil. I also had to run new wires for the ignition and power to the HEI coil. One of my questions here is "The only power lead I have running from the fuse block(switchable) is to the posative side on the coil. The old points system had another wire running to the starter?" is this correct. The engine has alot of miles on it and several oil leaks I am trying to chase down. Why would it run good for A week then all of the sudden not. Should I replace my ignition switch itself. I am confussed
