Cool Rot on doorsills, bedlinder ok? So, aggravated right now...

I am wondering if I can use spray can/roll on bedliner whatever is cheaper, on the floor, rockers, doorsills especially.
I'm asking because today, I found about a gallon of bondo on my pass doorsill, and after grinding it off.
I have two medium sized holes on the top of the doorsill.
I do plan to buy a small welder in a few months, after some sort of training.
But for now I want to know if silicone will work for the holes, then bedliner the bare metal. I rolled some rusto pro after aluminum taping the holes.
Thanks for advice/opinions.
