Post cutting the frame

Recently I watched "Car Warriors" with 2 72 C10 trucks. One team shortened the frame, longbed to shortbed. Then the other day I saw on Velocity channel, Lou and Jared did the same thing. On both shows the frame was cut in one vertical pass. I thought the correct way is to make an "ell" shape cut thereby making the joint stronger when welded.Im sure Ive seen this info before. The reason Im curious is I am thinking of shortening my 69 c30 to make a dually pickup.Any thoughts?
