Craigslist made me do it! 72 C30 & C40
Craigslist can make you do bad things. I just picked both of these up over the last few weeks. The C40 was a local buy. It is a 72 with 33K original miles. The 350 engine has factory PS and the truck has been ungraded to 22.5 wheels.
The Tow Truck is a 72 that I aquired thru an estate sale. The owner who passed away had owned it since 1975. The truck has 54k original miles. I picked it up from the service stataion where it spent almost it's whole life. I met an employee there when I picked up the truck that was also a good friend of the owner. He said the truck was rarely used. When I got there the truck fired right up and I was able to load it on the trailer quickly. I wanted to take pictures of where I got it, but it was pouring down raining. It was a long wet trip. 600 miles of driving in non stop rain and it took 19 hours. The last 4 hours of the trip were spent waiting to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. They wouldn't let anyone across with a trailer due to wind restriction. Everyone wants to know what the plans are. Well I may sell the C40 even though I would love to drive it. The Tow Truck is what I have been looking for over the last 5 years. I used to own a 67 Tow Truck about 18 years ago. I always regretted getting rid of it and said it if I found the right one I would buy it. Well I could never find the right 67, but I like how original the 72 is and that it spent almost it's whole life at one shop. My plans are to restore the 72 to it's original glory and show it off.
