Brought the 65 home yesterday, what a weekend
SO I finally brought my truck home from storage but what a test. It took 15 minutes of cranking to get it started and when I did fuel was pouring out of the cracked gas line in 4 places. Went and got a new line and fixed that, pumped up a tire and drove to a gas station, the gas attendant pulled the gas cap off and the filler neck came with it,LOL. Had to replace the 2 quarts of tranny fluid that had leaked out and stop the slipping. and made it home. No signals or brake lights worked so I started on it today and fixed the fuel filler neck, no hose clamp, took off a dana cruise control setup as the wiring under the dash was terrible, pulled off the wheel, fixed the signals and brake lights and sorted all the wiring out, threw the aftermarket radio away and cleaned everything up. Changed the wheels as one didn't hold air and I had a set laying around from another truck and changed the air filter and hooked the kick down linkage up.And to top off the day , my transmission in my Yukon XL packed it in on the way home and the fluid is burnt bad, I had to cruise home at 15 miles an hour or it wouldn't move. So now I have another project to do, one which can't wait because the wife drives it. Off to Ebay to find a 4L60E.
PS, this truck on the build sheet has 4N01AA 20 gallon gas tanks. Do you think the tanks hanging down are them or aftermarket. I would like to remove them but if it was factory I will leave them, nothing like having 60 gallons of gas erupt if you get hit.
