Fixing 4 wheel drive on 89

I am looking at an 89 chevy 1500 4x4 and was told it has a broken front axle. Was told the part will cost $106. How hard will it be to fix this? The truck is still driveable just doesn't engage in to 4x4. I'm very mechanically inclined and do all my own work on my cars but wanna know what i'm getting into before i start so i also make sure to have everything i may need.

I have seen a 4x4 truck and its working just never tore into one but i can't see it being to difficult.

On a scale of 1 to 10 10 being hardest what is this rated and what kind of job would be similair to it, like would pulling an engine be the same or harder or something like that.

Thnaks in advance for any help or ideas you can shed on the subject.
