Re-drilling rotors

Has anyone ever tried to re-drill 5-lug disk rotors for 6-lug? I want to convert to disks on my 66 but i would like to keep my 6-lug rally wheels, plus i don't really want to change the rear. I have a complete front and rear from a 72 to do a swap with. I tried one of the rotors with the wheel studs removed up to a 6-lug wheel and it looks like if the holes were welded and re-drilled it would work. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so did it work out for you?
