Which header gaskets to use?

I have a set of Hooker Super Competition headers that I just got for my 535. It has Air Flow Research heads on it which I believe have D port exhaust shape. Do the regular Fel Pro header gaskets work fine on these? The welded portion on the inboard side of the header flange nowhere near matches the profile of the header gasket. In the past I always get exhaust leaks around the flanges no matter what I do but maybe I just don't know how to put a set of headers on the right way. I have some copper gaskets that I tried and they were even worse!
