tight caliper ?

took my truck out yesterday [1980 chev 2 wheel dr.] and went for a short ride and could smell a cross between rubber and burnt wire when I got home and noticed the dr. rim was a lot hotter than the pass. side.Jacked the truck up and dr. side was hard to turn so took tire off and loosened the bearing nut but that wasn,t it,so I let a little brake fluid out and helped a little.Do these type of calipers have a problem when sitting too long, has been sitting outside since Oct.Is there something I can do.Also is there a better caliper upgrade with little or no modification for these trucks
