C60, C50, C40 Differences Help

Looking at a Chevy C60 or GMC equivalent, and the seller has no paper work on it..he states it as a 60's-70's truck. I would like to nail it down. It has a larger aluminum vin tag, like a 71/72 style. I am familiar with in C10, 20, and 30's. My question is, can I identify that way...meaning 67-70 have a smaller vin tag and 71/72 have the larger tag?! Does this hold true in these big trucks? Any help is highly appreciated..
