Differences between '73-'87 front crossmember and '67-'72 ??

What are the main differences between the front suspension crossmember on a '73 - '87 1/2 ton and a the older '67 - '72 trucks?

Mainly I am wondering about the mounting points of the lower control arm. Do the newer style trucks use U clamps to mount them like the older one I have?

I already know the newer one will bolt in, and the newer ones use larger rubber bushings and such. Can I use a newer style lower control arm in my '70 crossmember?

Thanks for the help!
