Is triple nickel any good?

I was wondering if anyone has purchased a triple nickel bumper and what their thoughts were as to the quality of the plating. I thought that the best chrome plating jobs were triple plated using copper then nickel then chrome. Supposedly, copper attaches well to steel and that is why copper is used as a base plate. Nickel attaches well to copper and chome well to nickel. So, I'm wondering if the nickel base plate on these triple nickel bumpers really adheres well and if the plating job lasts without flaking off. Any comments and suggestions before I purchase one?

Thanks!
