anybody ever replace a wiper switch?

well, i finally figured on the way home it was time to do something about my non-working wipers. i tore into the column a about an hour ago and discovered that where my wiper switch is toast, where the turn signal arm snaps into it. i dont know how, or why its mangled, but it is. so i get to replace the wiper switch. has anyone had to replace an 83+ wiper switch in the column? how hard is it?
