02 2500HD crewcab 4x4 diesel rough ride- Any advice?

I recently bought an 02 2500HD crewcab 4x4 diesel. It has around 210k miles. It has a rough ride, especially when empty. The p.o. installed Rancho shocks but mentioned it was probably time for a new set. This truck replaced a 93 GMC k2500 x cab lwb with a 350 nv4500 that rode as smoothly empty or loaded as my precious 97 c1500 xcab swb. The wife doesnt like to ride in it because of the rough ride. When i bought it, it had worn out bfg all terrain 285 70 r 16s and also drove terribly. I got a deal ($400) on 4 Nearly new falken rocky mtn at 265 70 r 16s which helped the driving but still rides rough no matter what tire pressure i run. I think my rear leads are shot as the truck sags more than the 93 k2500 did with the same load. Any advice? Different shocks? Air bags? New leaf springs? All the above?
