Oil cooler needed??

Hi guys;

while I was getting my inspection done the mechanic asked why I deleted the oil cooler off the engine.

I didn't really have a good answer other than to save space. Now I'm wondering if this is something I should put back on?

I just didn't see the point as I'm not sure what exactly would cycle the oil through those lines or if it is just something of a gimmick?

What did you guys do?
