Windshield seal won't suck up

Just installed a new Precision brand windshield gasket
top won't seat with body . As you see there is about 1/2 gap.
When I bought this gasket the dealer said the company (Precision )
was back ordering due to new molding set up. So I waited about four months and was shipped to me. Unfortunately I was not able to install in until now,
a year later.
Anyone have similar problem ?
Original glass, clean newly painted cab all spot weld points smooth no distortions in metal. Gasket stored in original plastic bag inside my shop.
