What does the grey wire do? Wiring FAQ didn't help.
So I've ran into a problem... We put and Ididit column in and I'm in the process of adapting the wiring over. I pulled a plug from an '86 chevy truck and all the colors seem to line up just right with the exception of the '66 having a grey wire in the column plug and the new column having a brown wire. the '86 plug also has a brown wire. Now after doing a little research, i have found that the Ididit column's brown wire is for hazards, so my questions are, what is the grey wire on the truck used for, and what must i do to utilize the flasher switch on the column?
Also when I wired it up, the hazard switch on the column had to be "on" for my blinkers to work but, all the blinkers and brake lights worked fine when the hazard switch is on, but when it is off nothing works. I do not have the hood on so I can't tell if the front blinkers are on correctly. Extra info: New column is a tilt with blinkers and flashers only. This is how the wires are currently hooked up New column:----86' plug:------stock wires: white ----------white---------white green ----------green---------green yellow----------yellow --------yellow purple----------purple---------purple brown----------brown---------grey dark blue-------dark blue------dark blue grey -----------light blue------light blue black-----------black ---------black
