long vs short wp

I realize this is an engine-specific question, but asking specifically because I'm looking at a K10 with a replacement goodwrench engine...

Since it's a later engine, am assuming it has a long water pump, whereas our trucks had the short pump through 72 (though cars transitioned in 69 I've learned on here from other members).

Here's the question - since this truck would be a long-term plan of rebuild and potentially shoehorn in a 700R4 after bumping the motor forward a few inches - can a short water pump be fitted onto an engine that originally came with a long pump?

Same relative question for crank balancer and pulley forward fit to a newer engine...

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about how new that engine is other than it is a non-vortec goodwrench 350.

Thanks in advance.
