72 Light Switch Removal

My 72 Cheyenne Super has a really crappy dash pad covered by a velcro-held-on piece of carpet. Uuugggh!!!! (Don't blame me, it came to me this way)

So I bought an aftermarket dash pad in the correct blue. I removed the glove box and door. Now to remove the instrument cluster so I can reach the dash pad nuts from both sides of the cab. Remove all the screws...NUTS!!! I cannot get the light or wiper switch out.

I look in the Service Manual and it says to remove the light switch rod and bezel. But, how??? Also, it says to remove the wiper knob and bezel nut...again, how???

So the $25,000 question for today is..how do you remove the switches???

Thanks for any and all assistance!
